What your dentist can do
When you see a dentist at our Slough practice, they will examine your tooth to assess the extent of damage, before talking you through all the relevant treatment options. The best
one for you will depend on your individual circumstances, and your preference.
These are some of the treatment options available at our Slough clinic:
Veneers are very thin pieces of porcelain placed over the front surfaces of the front teeth to improve their appearance. They can also reinforce teeth that have minor chips or cracks; your dentist will make the veneer thicker where it covers the damaged area. Veneers look very natural and require minimal preparation of the tooth.
Tooth-coloured composite material – the same material a dentist uses for white fillings – can be used to rebuild a broken or damaged tooth. In most cases this requires only one appointment, and the results will look natural as well as being long-lasting and durable.
Crowns may be made from gold, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. They are sometimes referred to as “caps” for the teeth and are used by a dentist to restore and reinforce a weakened, broken, or otherwise damaged tooth. They are very strong and are made to look just like a natural tooth.
Onlays are a half-step between fillings and crowns, and are placed over a tooth to reinforce it. They are made from either ceramic or porcelain.
