A dentist for all ages – dental care for all stages of life

5th July 2016

Regular visits to the dentist should be part of your health care regime whatever your age. At Moonlight Dental Surgery in Slough we welcome new patients of all ages for general dentistry. We have a firm focus on preventative dental care and offer both private and NHS dental treatment to patients of all ages.

Whatever your circumstances and treatment requirements, your Slough dentist can provide fully customised health care to suit your needs. Below are some of the ways your dentist can help you stay healthy at all stages of life.

Children’s teeth

At our Slough dental practice we recommend bringing children in to see the dentist from an early age. This serves a number of purposes; first, it means they will quickly become acclimatised to the practice environment and will learn to see the dentist as a friendly face. This can reduce the risk of dental phobia later in life.

Secondly, advice about tooth brushing, how diet or habits such as thumb sucking can affect oral health will be presented in an age-appropriate manner. Preventative measures can also be taken: our Slough clinic offers fissure sealant and fluoride varnish, designed to keep the teeth healthy and strong.

Children and teenagers can have free treatment from an NHS dentist up to the age of 18 (or 19 for full-time students).

Teenagers

Teenagers also have special dental health requirements. It’s important to ensure your teenage children have good brushing and flossing habits, know how to clean around fixed braces if they wear them, and are aware of the impact too much sugar can have on their teeth.

Pregnancy

Pregnant women may notice changes to their dental health. Because of an increase in hormones, some women are more at risk of gum disease when pregnant. Acid erosion is also a common problem; your Slough dentist can help manage all these conditions, which should subside when baby arrives.

Older people

For older people who have experienced tooth loss, our Slough dental practice offers a range of denture and bridge solutions. Your dentist can provide dentures and bridges either privately or on the NHS.
