What an NHS Dentist can and can’t do

21st June 2016

Are you looking for an NHS dentist in Slough? Then why not get in touch with Moonlight Dental Surgery today to find out what an NHS practitioner can do for you, and book your first appointment?

Many people think it is difficult to find an NHS dentist these days, but at our Slough dental practice we are proud to offer high-quality NHS care from a team of highly-skilled clinicians. We believe that everyone, no matter what their circumstances, deserves a healthy smile. The team that deliver our National Health Service care are some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, and will deliver you the highest quality of care and service no matter what your requirements.

Whatever treatment you need, your Slough NHS dentist will take the time to ensure that you are comfortable, have all the information you need about your procedure(s), and will answer any questions you may have.

NHS dental services in Slough

Treatment from an NHS dentist is priced by band, depending on how extensive the procedures you require are. For 2016-17, NHS dental treatment bands are as follows:

Band 1: £19.70 – This covers the basics: your clinical examination (including x-rays if required), diagnosis, and advice. Should you need a scale and polish to professionally clean your teeth, that’s covered here, too.

Band 2: £53.90 – Encompassing all the treatments covered by Band 1, Band 2 also includes common treatments: fillings, root canal treatment, and tooth extraction.

Band 3: £233.70 – This band includes more complex procedures, such as the creation of dental restorations: crowns, bridges, and dentures. Band 3 also covers all treatments in Bands 1 and 2.

If you are under 18 (or 19 and a full-time student), are pregnant, in receipt of a state pension or a range of other benefits, your treatment from an NHS dentist is free. There is also help available for working people on low incomes – contact our Slough practice or the DHSS office for further details. You may be able to exempt yourself from charges by completing a HC1 form.

NHS dental care does not cover cosmetic procedures, such as teeth whitening or veneers.
